La serie de terror y comedia de Apple TV+, creada por Katie Dippold, Widows Bay, se posicionó como una de las grandes favoritas de la 78.ª edición de los Premios Emmy, al conseguir 19 nominaciones. Entre los reconocimientos más destacados figuran Mejor Serie de Comedia, Mejor Actor Protagónico para Matthew Rhys por su papel del alcalde Tom Loftis, y Mejor Actor de Reparto para Stephen Root, quien interpreta a Wyck. La producción también logró una doble nominación en la categoría de Actriz de Reparto, gracias a las actuaciones de Dale Dickey y Kate O’Flynn.
No obstante, la competencia por la estatuilla principal será feroz, ya que series como Abbott Elementary, The Bear y Hacks también integran la terna de Mejor Comedia. En el terreno dramático, la serie de ciencia ficción Pluribus, de Apple TV+, se llevó 18 nominaciones, incluyendo Mejor Serie Dramática y Mejor Actriz para Rhea Seehorn, quien busca finalmente alzarse con el premio tras dos derrotas previas por su trabajo en Better Call Saul. Otro nombre que sorprendió gratamente fue el de Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, nominado como Mejor Actor de Comedia por su papel en Wonder Man. La ceremonia de los Premios Emmy 2026 se transmitirá el 14 de septiembre a través de NBC y Peacock.
