About this app

Made by the Google Design award-winning developer Third Culture Apps

Appy Weather is the most personal weather app because it's been designed for humans by someone who actually checks the weather too. By summarising the weather in plain-spoken & user-friendly language via its one-of-a-kind Timeline screen, Appy Weather sets itself apart from all other weather apps — no more scrolling long lists to figure out the weather as it's now summarised for you in a few lines and makes checking the weather fast, easy and actually fun! That said, there are more conventional hourly & daily views if that's what you prefer.

Appy Weather's hyperlocal accurate forecasts are powered by AerisWeather, Apple Weather, OpenWeather and Foreca.

Appy Weather is privacy-first. It doesn’t collect or process any user data.

If location permission is granted, your location will be stored locally on your device – it’s never shared with a third party.

Your location enables hyper-local forecasting when the app is run. Widgets & notifications check your location in the background when they’re updated/sent.

The ability to to from hourly to weekly so quickly is awesome. Really cool to see precipitation, cloud cover, etc as well and switch between time ranges too. To switch from temperature to the other measurements, you need to swipe the handlebar up just a little bit, if you swipe it up too much then you'll just get the option to change the location. Maybe this is something they can improve in the future :) Oh, and the support is awesome!

Thanks for the positive feelings and constructive feedback Alex! Yep, I'll look into this for sure. Also, to be clear, if you tap on the handlebar it should do the trick too. Best, Bardi

A nice android Dark Sky replacement. I installed and uninstalled quite a few weather apps before resting here. I found myself coming back to this one. If the accuracy holds up after the Dark Sky API expires, it should be your go to weather app. Would hope to see some weather animations like lightning, thunder, rain drops, wind, snow like with other apps but, not a deal breaker. Also, I advise the developer to offer a free trial subscription to see what features you'd be getting for a paid commitment.

Thanks George for considering me as your Dark Sky replacement. 1. Improved visuals are being worked on as we speak. 2. I'll consider including a trial. If not, I'll look at ways to give you a better feeling for everything you get in the paid version. Widgets can now be previewed on your homescreen which is a recent development for example.

Thank you Baird for your patience and support, the app is working great, now I just got to get use to it, in a positive way, having too much fun with it. Is there a way to get have the current temperature set on my display with my clock or notifications bar? Android, Galaxy S8. Fairly new, not refurbished. Update, Baird, sorry, but I can't do this anymore. I'm sure your going to get it right, but my reputation is about true feedback on issues. Email me when you fix location, temperature pop ups.

Thank you for patience too Richard! Yes, you can (assuming you have a Plus subscription at least, which I know you do). Go into Settings -> Notifications and scroll down to Current Conditions and turn it on. If there's anything else, ever, please get in touch. Best, Bardi

What's new

Fixed weather not loading if location permission has been denied. In my checks at launch, there was an oversight scenario. Nothing sinister going on, trust me. So sorry!

The app now targets newer Android APIs: for the app to be allowed background location updates, give permission via the app’s system settings -> Location screen. You’ll need to change it so it’s allowed access all the time (not just when using the app). Also, you’ll be prompted to allow notifications if you’re a sub on launch.
