Mario Golf World Tour is amazing. To start off, I loved Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour on Gamecube, so this has been on my radar ever since it was announced back in early 2013. After being delayed for almost a year, it's finally here! And boy, is it great.

The game starts off with a quick, basic tutorial. Honestly, it doesn't tell you much more than how to hit the ball and adjust the camera. However, if you look into Toad's Booth, you can find more in depth tutorials and the area to purchase DLC. The main game modes are Quick Round where you can choose from Single Player, VS., and Tournament play. All of these are great for practicing the courses and new characters or playing with your friends locally or online against people from around the world. Side note: The character selection is surprisingly solid, with 16 characters (4 unlock-able, plus Star versions of everybody) and the option to play as your Mii.

Speaking of playing as your Mii, the main single player mode is the Castle Club. Here you can run around a virtual castle stuffed with Mario themed fountains, hedges, characters, etc. and tons of rooms with a variety of purposes. The shop for example is where you can buy gear (clubs, clothes, and more) all of which can boost your Mii's stats, usually at the expense of another. These are purchased using coins that you will earn from playing in a variety of tournaments.

And the tournaments are great! The difficulty ramps up smoothly, but still presents quite a challenge if you want to succeed. Part of the challenge, for me at least, is trying to beat my own records and play a hole flawlessly. The gameplay is deep as it was in Toadstool Tour, where you can manipulate your draw/fade, spin, and power all while accounting for terrain, slope, wind, and more. Once you add in some of the Mario themed items, things only get more ridiculous and fun.

I did find the graphics to be surprisingly good. They won't impress, but they are more than serviceable for a sports game and the courses themselves are beautiful. The holes are all well designed and with plenty of content, 126 holes spread over three 18-hole courses and four 9-hole courses, you'll have plenty of replayability and that's without the online.

Sadly, I have not yet tried the online as I'm living in University housing and my 3DS cannot connect to the internet here. However, I will update my review in about a week once I've had a chance to try out online modes and form an opinion. Also, I do have to give this back to my girlfriend soon, since my copy has yet to arrive from Amazon :)

I can credit Mario Golf for the gamecube as the game that introduced me to the sport as a whole, and helped me realize that the boring sport i saw on tv was actually fun and engaging to play. but this is not the gamecube title and stands as the fist entry in the Mario golf franchise since Mario Golf on the GBA, and i am happy to report that despite the couple of generations of rest has not dulled the series at all. Mario Golf: World Tour, starts out with 3 courses , several practice modes and a few challenges to get you started, and expands as you complete and win as you play along, but it that is not enough for you there is also online tournaments to keep you going. As one would expect of a maio title this game perfect for new entrants to the sport as well as seasoned veterans Mario Golf as the non-mandatory tutorials can teach you the subtleties of the game and sport so you can learn practice and improve, so you can improve your handicap a new addition to the franchise which can help your difficulty settings especially in an online match. Veterans like myself will fit right in to the gameplay as it plays like the Gamecube entry to the series. but having played the competition on the vita i have to say that graphically Mario Golf is on par with Hotshots, but much more enjoyable to play than it's vita competition as it presents much larger variety of game types, better starting options, and a much more fun environment and variety than Hotshots in my opinion. thumbs way up for this title!

There is no question that Nintendo for the past year hasn't done very well with delivering good games for the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS. Some people would even say that the games just are not that fun anymore. Still, there are some big surprises on the horizon for Nintendo with Super Smash Brothers and other great games on the horizon for the Nintendo 3DS. But one of those favorite games fro Mario and his world of sports in finally coming back after nearly a decade-long absence. While there have been great games from Mario in Sports like Mario Sports Mix for the Nintendo Wii, and Mario Tennis for the 3DS last year, many have also still awaited to see him hit the links, and say Mama Mia to a hole in one. Well, that time is now here and definitely a great time to tee off again.

Mario Golf: World Tour for the Nintendo 3Ds is a return to Mario and his sports time in action, as he makes his way through numerous courses of golf from traditional styled course, all the way to Mario-themed courses from Cheep-Cheep Seas, to Desert flats where you could easily hit giant mole, to Wiggler caterpillars that could make you and break you on the links. You can play with any of your favorites from Mario, Yoshi and Donkey Kong, to even having your Mii's come along for the ride and sink a few eagles. There are new additions as well, where you can buy power-ups for better shots, and download extra content to have even more fun. Graphically, the game is a true return to form and the courses look well-dedicated. The control also delivers well, where as was the control with Mario Tennis was a bit awkward with the motion controlled gameplay. Still, there are also new add-ons by playing against others online and buying downloadable content which can help you improve your trophy case, or if you want to have more fun in the game of golf.

Overall, Mario Golf was overall absent from the Wii, because of the demands for the Wii Sports games. Still, it is absolutely nice to have a god game that is fun and definitely relaxing, especially when there haven't been many good Nintendo games out this past year. While some are eagerly awaiting Super Smash Brothers for the 3DS and Mario Kart 8 too come out for the Wii U, I definitely would recommend Mario Golf: World Tour. It is a fun game that will tide your over.

I had bought this Mario Golf game for for my children for Christmas. Well it's Christmas morning and they're trying to hook it up to their switch. Being an adult who doesn't play nor ever played video games I didn't know what the 3DS stood for. As I am now learning it's a different nintendo system. I am now stuck with this item because it's not eligible for return, I have thoroughly disappointed children and I'm out $70. I have leave my lesson to not shop on Amazon but rater at a store where people are willing to help me out. What a ripoff that I can't return an item that I can't even use.
