My first Apple and I owned built my own windows base computes for over 35 years. Got sick and tire of MS bull licensing and all problems related with their OS after Windows XP. Still learning how to use my MAC but I am enjoying it. Everything work flawlessly 99% of the time. The only issue is that it has the USB plugs in the back but who's complaining I've gone through 3 OS upgrades since buying it and no issues with the hardware. It's elegant and sleek on a desk, adding software is different but understandable why it's done that way. I liked so much that I bought and I-Phone now I have both my phone and computer files were ever I go in a secure location. Guess the Apple followers were right and I was wrong. Should have bought one a long time ago. PS I have 3 Windows base laptop all of them functional gathering dust. Bye bye win.....

I had to replace an older iMac (2011) that had given it up. Its really hard to price shop Apple computers since they don't really discount them. I did get a nice deal on this one, on a new machine that will accept the new updates and run my apps efficiently. It showed up promptly and worked flawlessly right out of the box. If you like Apple products, but don't want to spend a small fortune this might be the machine for you. It suits me to a T. The Retina display is phenomenal. I did buy an external CD/DVD drive since I'm of the generation that still has a stash of those things, but this might not be an issue for someone who has gone completely free of that type of media. To sum up, I'd say, so far, so good. I hope I'm as happy with this one for at least another 8 years.

My household used windows exclusively but I recently decided to pick up a few Macs and make the switch. Switching was extremely easy and even those in the house that aren't technically inclined picked up on mac os fast. The screen is lovely. It's a pleasure to work on. If I had to do it all over though, I would have gone a step up and got the fusion drive. The HDD in these Macs is just too slow. It's not always a problem, but when it is, it's noticeable, aggravating and embarrassing that I would pay a premium for a Mac with such a slow HDD. Get the one with the fusion drive and benefit from my folly by heeding these words.

This cam in just like you would get one from apple but at a small discounted price, shipping was faster than I thought. The 4K screen really is a must get if you're spending this much on a computer , I went with the stock 4K model since I knew I would be upgrading to an SSD as soon as I get it, I would get really familiar with how to upgrade these computers to save yourself a lot of money Apple charges, overall this is an A+ computer especially if you like to do the upgrades yourself

It's the first iMac in a while that has anything resembling upgradable memory. You have to crack the case, but at least the memory chips are not hard soldered in. I've had Macs since early 1990's. This model seems to have the same quality as always. I wish it had been clear that I wasn't getting the keyboard with the trackpad with the 21.5 inch one, but I got a trackpad for a reasonable price. Once you go Mac, you never go back LOL

The description states that the Fusion drive is now available with all standard configurations for both the 21.5 and 27 inch models. This is not accurate, and what I got with my base model was the slow as molasses 5400 RPM drive. There's not even an option to choose one or the other when you buy this from Amazon. Interestingly enough, if you go to Apple.com it states the same thing, but when you try to order one you will see the Fusion drive is actually another $100 additional. This is not "standard configuration" this is "customized configuration" and costs more money.

I loved my old Mac. I really did not want to stop using it. When Comcast upgraded it just could not handle it. I was not able to get on the sights I needed to go to. Well I do love it. It is so easy to use. I am a senior and I installed it myself . It even installed my printer itself. All I had to do was plug in the printer and the Mac prompted me on what to do. It even spells for me. I do not like the mouse. It makes the pages jump, but I am sure it is just me and I will get used to it.

I have a 2009 model iMac with 10.6.8 and Parallels running on it. It runs flawlessly and fast. But since the major software companies are forcing us to downgrade to newer operating systems (you can't update any web browsers on 10.6.8 and most of the major websites are making their sites incompatible with old browsers for some reason) I was forced to buy a new computer with the newest OS so that I could continue to run my business.
Pros: the Mac migration assistant works remarkably well, transferring over existing software, emails, music, photos, etc.
the rechargeable mouse seems to last a LONG time before you have to recharge

Cons: your custom settings don't transfer over so you have to set all of them again
this computer is stupidly slow - constant spinning beach balls while you sit and wait for it - that's just running email and a web browser - it basically can't even run Parallels (it boots, but nothing on the Windows portion will run and the Mac side basically slows to a crawl too)
you cannot upgrade the RAM - I suspect this computer needs 16 or 32GB of RAM, but you can't upgrade it yourself. Google the process to upgrade the RAM on this model - it basically requires risky disassembly of the computer (the 27" model and older models don't require "surgery")
