About this app

Appy Weather is the most personal weather app because it's been designed for humans by someone who actually checks the weather too. By summarising the weather in plain-spoken & user-friendly language via its one-of-a-kind Timeline screen, Appy Weather sets itself apart from all other weather apps — no more scrolling long lists to figure out the weather as it's now summarised for you in a few lines and makes checking the weather fast, easy and actually fun! That said, there are more conventional hourly & daily views if that's what you prefer.

Appy Weather's hyperlocal accurate forecasts are powered by AerisWeather, Apple Weather, OpenWeather and Foreca.

Appy Weather is privacy-first. It doesn’t collect or process any user data.

If location permission is granted, your location will be stored locally on your device – it’s never shared with a third party.

Your location enables hyper-local forecasting when the app is run. Widgets & notifications check your location in the background when they’re updated/sent.

The ability to to from hourly to weekly so quickly is awesome. Really cool to see precipitation, cloud cover, etc as well and switch between time ranges too. To switch from temperature to the other measurements, you need to swipe the handlebar up just a little bit, if you swipe it up too much then you'll just get the option to change the location. Maybe this is something they can improve in the future :) Oh, and the support is awesome!

Thanks for the positive feelings and constructive feedback Alex! Yep, I'll look into this for sure. Also, to be clear, if you tap on the handlebar it should do the trick too. Best, Bardi

I love this app! I've been looking for a new weather app for awhile. Appy is accurate, easy to use, customizable, and has all of the information I want without any of the fluff I don't. The layout is intuitive and easy to navigate. You can tell a lot of thought and consideration went into every aspect of Appy. The basic version impressed me enough that I paid for the yearly upgrade. This is the only app I've liked enough to do so.

Wow, thanks so much Jenn for the love and the support via a subscription! It means a lot to know, and I'll continue to work hard to ensure you don't regret the subscription at any point :) It feels great when people appreciate and identify how much thought went into the app. There's a lot of goodness planned for the summer too. Best, Bardi

Good looking, very detailed app. Unfortunately it has chosen to get its data from Dark Sky which, in my location (SE NM), has historically been perfectly miserable at forecasts, repeatedly missing very clear and obvious changes and events that none of the other services have any trouble spotting. Appearance doesn't count for much when accuracy sucks.

Thanks David for the fair review. Agreed, a weather app that reports inaccurate weather is of no use. There are definitely many spots where Dark Sky is highly accurate but unfortunately it can be inaccurate in other places too. If you can email me examples showing it's wrong compared to others, that would be helpful as I can pass it on to them.

What's new

Fixed weather not loading if location permission has been denied. In my checks at launch, there was an oversight scenario. Nothing sinister going on, trust me. So sorry!

The app now targets newer Android APIs: for the app to be allowed background location updates, give permission via the app’s system settings -> Location screen. You’ll need to change it so it’s allowed access all the time (not just when using the app). Also, you’ll be prompted to allow notifications if you’re a sub on launch.
